The Kings Park and Botanic Gardens on Fraser Avenue is particularly special, while at the Lake Joondalup nature reserve you can soak up some beautiful natural scenery.

At just over 30 km / 19 miles to the north-east of Perth, the expansive Walyunga National Park can be reached via the Great Northern Highway, being located close to the Darling Range. The Swan-Avon River meanders its way through Walyunga, reaching a set of rapids where white water rafting is popular - the annual Avon Descent is staged here.

Kings Park and Botanic Gardens

Kings Park, in central Perth, covers more than 400 hectares / 985 acres of natural bushland, with many areas of the park offering spectacular views of downtown. Close to the Central Business District (CBD), one of the main attractions at Kings Park is the large Botanic Gardens, which include many important collections of exotic plants. Kings Park and the Botanic Gardens feature mature trees and shrubs, groves of eucalyptus trees, a RAAF memorial, gazebos, seating areas, season events, a playground for children, cafés, picnic spots and walking trails.

Lake Joondalup

Stirling Gardens

These are actually the oldest in the whole of Perth and date back to 1845, when many of its mature specimens were first planted. Whiteman Park is one of the largest is the city and is a hugely popular recreational area.
